The gallery was founded by the Moy family, whose relationship with Tuscany began in the 1990s. Robert Moy trained in garden design and horticulture among the master nurseries of Pistoia, and first brought Impruneta terracotta to Oxford in 2000 under the name Tuscan Pots. Tom Moy, a classicist and musician educated at Cambridge, has since expanded the gallery's scope to include maiolica, scagliola, and the Masterworks Collection. The gallery operates in partnership with Eves and Samuel, whose curated 17th–20th century antique furniture is displayed alongside the collections and is available for acquisition. ## Philosophy House of Moy holds that the object is not the art — the art is the personal journey of creation that brought it into being. Artist Jilly Bernard has cast a strict edition of twelve pairs from the original terracotta estate models of Catharine Courtauld — the iconic guardians of Antonio Canova — currently resting in a private Tuscan garden. Rendered in azure scagliola, each pair measures 122 × 48 × 54cm.
